Anti-Aggregation Pheromones

Prevent mass attack with anti-aggregation pheromones. These pheromones are important components of pest management that function by signalling to incoming beetles that a potential host tree is too crowded. Anti-aggregation pheromones have been shown to be extremely effective where mass attacks are likely.

Douglas-fir Beetle
(Dendroctonus pseudotsugae)
MCH is an anti-aggregation pheromone for use against Douglas-fir Beetle. The active ingredient is contained in an inert plastic release capsule (bubble cap).

MCH Bubble Caps are stapled to susceptible standing and downed tree trunks at 10-12 m (yd.) intervals. Deploy just prior to anticipated beetle attacks (February-April; weather, latitude and elevation dependent).

Average dose:
Douglas-fir beetle: 30-45 bubble caps/acre (75-112/ha)
